Stephen Sondheim's Putting it Together

A cocktail-party of love, loss and sizzling lyric-wit. Set in one elegant evening at a glittering Manhattan penthouse, Putting It Together brings together two couples – one older and long-married, the other younger and just discovering the world – under the watchful eye of an enigmatic narrator.

Across one night, champagne flows and façades crack as relationships unravel, secrets surface and the truth becomes unavoidable. Through the rich catalogue of Sondheim songs—from the razor-sharp “The Ladies Who Lunch” to the quietly aching “Being Alive” and the slyly tender “Could I Leave You?”—the show reflects on ambition, desire, regret and the uneasy pleasure of connection.

“This revue of Sondheim numbers … is a feast of pleasure delivered with real verve.”- The Guardian

“The songs — with their supersophisticated lyrics and ultracivilised melodies … reaffirm Sondheim’s supremacy in his field.”--Los Angeles Times

“If someone were to ask me to describe … this revue … in one word, I would have to say ‘SLICK’! … Sondheim’s classical lyrics (and music) truly come alive.” -Around the Town Chicago
